Well, spring break is coming to a close and I must admit, I'm a bit exhausted and ready for Monday. Even though Emma only goes to preschool 3 hours a day Monday, Wednesday and Friday, those hours are precious. I usually use them to plow through some business stuff while I have the uninterrupted time, even though I'd rather be sleeping or drinking coffee watching a morning talk show! We had a wonderful week together, but it wore me out! I enjoyed taking a week off of work and devoting it entirely to the girls. I haven't done that since we went to the beach last summer. I find myself always working on business stuff every day and it was so much fun to put it to the side and just love on my girls.
We finished the week off by returning to the library today to return our books and check out some new ones. We also went to the bookstore and Hannah got some wooden pattern blocks and Emma got a My Little Pony book. Joe got a new Grisham book and I left empty handed. I wanted a book on basic photography but couldn't find the section and the girls were getting impatient. I did find an awesome book on PhotoShop that I really wanted but it was $50.00. I've never spent that much on a book (besides a college textbook) in my life! So, I think I'll look for a used copy online.
Emma knows Krispy Kreme is across from the bookstore, thanks to Auntie Catherine!! So, she asked if we could get a doughnut on the way home. Joe and I were good...we went through the drive through and ordered one each for the girls and that was it. It takes will-power to go to Krispy Kreme and not get even one hot and now glazed to share! We then came home and tinkered around, fixed dinner, gave them a bath and just put them bed.
Two funny stories from the girls today. They won't be nearly as funny not hearing them from them, but here goes...
According to Emma we had meat"low" for dinner (meatloaf) and it is her new favorite food. She sang a song at the dinner table about how good meatlow is...it is the best meat in the whole wide world and it is like sweet meat! (We call her bottom sweet meat when we pinch it or squeeze it.)
My second funny story actually happened a few days ago and I forgot to post it. We were having a family devotion before bed and Hannah started talking about Jesus' recycling men. I listened to her tell the story about the recyclers and I had no clue who she was referring to. I asked her again who the recyclers were...she said they were Jesus 12 closest friends....oh.....the Disciples!!! She couldn't remember the word but she came up with one that sounded similiar...disciple..recycler! Oh, how much laughter spilled out in the bedroom after we realized who she was talking about...the 12 Recyclers!!
Lastly, my friend Jennifer "tagged" me in a game of blog tag, where you have to list 10 little known facts about yourself. I'm sure most of you knows these things, but here goes . . .
1. I love all vegetables...absolutely every one, except brussel sprouts. I could live without them, but I can also definitely eat them if they are served.
2. I went to Costa Rica in 2006 on a missions trip and did the zip line through the rain forest, which was amazing!
3. I fell in love with coffee in Costa Rica and now I have to have it every morning. As soon as my feet hit the floor I head straight to the kitchen to start the coffee maker. (Literally, the feet hit the floor and sometimes even before I go to the bathroom I go straight the coffee maker...I hate being addicted to something...so I MIGHT try to wean myself off this summer. (No promises, but I might try!) I would like to enjoy coffee but not have to have it every morning. This morning I only had 1/2 a cup and by dinner I had a splitting headache. If I don't have one cup in the morning every night I get a headache. So, I'd like to love it, but not drink it every day..we'll see how that goes!
4. My favorite coffee is German Chocolate Cake. I have a Keuring Single Serve Pod Coffee maker (It makes the best coffee I've ever had!) and the German Chocolate Cake is to die for!
5. My first year in college I was a tv/radio broadcasting major. I actually hated the radio training because I'm so quiet by nature. I hated being on the campus radio station trying to make chit chat with the guy that was my co-host. We had to have a weekly shift on the campus radio station, even if we were more interested in the tv production side of the major. So, as much as I hated the radio shift I had to do that first year of school, when I transferred to Columbia I applied for a job at the radio station! CIU has a major Christian radio station located on the college campus. They had evening and weekend shifts for college students with experience in radio. My one year of experience on the campus radio station at BJU landed me a job! I actually loved it because you didn't have to chit chat...just announce a song or two and give the weather. It was a great paying job too for a college student, so I was very blessed to have been forced to learn the ins and outs of radio broadcasting my freshman year!
6. Here are a few of my favorite Things:
-I love the show Lost. It is the most aggravating show in the history of tv because of all the twists and plots that are so hard to follow, but I'm addicted to it as well.
-I love the movie Sense and Sensibility. I love the scene at the very end when Eleanor finds out Edward is not married and the sobs that erupt from her soul are so real and heartfelt that I sob every time too.
- I love the book Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.
-I love PF Changs (everything on the menu is divine but I especially love the lettuce wraps and the Mu Shu Pork) (Just ignore the fact that the mu shu pork has 51 grams of fat per serving! I never knew Chinese food could be so bad for you!)
-I know this is a really obscure unknown fact...but I love my computer! :+)
7. I love Target and Costco and the Farmer's Market.
8. I love to garden and one of my favorite plants that grew at our old house in Columbia was wisteria. It covered some lattice in our backyard around our screened in porch and in the spring when it bloomed it smelt like heaven. I think God will definitely have it blooming in my heavenly garden one day.
9. My favorite perfume is Victoria's Secret Halo perfume and one of my favorite candles from Yankee Candle is Berry Tangerine.
10. I love Paula Deen cookbooks and I love being in my kitchen, but I don't usually have a lot of time to do anything extraordinary it it. I hope to one day be at least 1/2 as good a cook as my mom. My family's favorite meals are my chicken parmesan, chicken marsala, and homemade pizza night!
11. Here's a freebie from Joe: I have the best looking husband of anyone reading this post! (Do you want to know what he wanted me to post as something no one knows about me...that my hair looks like Kramer's from Seinfeld when I wake up in the morning! It's true but not something I'd list as a top 10!) That makes me feel great when my husband tells me that is one of my most interesting unknown qualities! My crazy hair!
Well, the girls are getting in trouble because they are acting up in bed, so I better go help Joe fight the battle. I can't wait until they're asleep, I'm going to post pictures of them that I took with my brand new, amazing, totally awesome, new camera!
