Tuesday Review

Yesterday was a busy day and I stayed up too late working on orders so I didn't post anything last night. Emma was home with me all day yesterday because she doesn't have preschool on Tuesdays or Thursdays. She wanted us to dress up like Fancy Nancy (a character from her favorite book series) and have a spa day but I had too much work to do. Maybe this weekend we'll have a spa day with Hannah. They have a pink bathtub for their baby dolls, so we start by "shampooing" and styling everyone's hair, dressing them up and adding accessories to their wardrobes. Then we dress up in our "fancy" clothes and paint each other's nails, give facials etc.

We went to the Farmer's Market after we picked up Hannah from school. It's finally beginning to look like spring. They had lots of new plants and flowers. We got 5 various small red and white plants that we will pot and use on the front porch. I wanted to get a large fern to sit by the door, but the stands that had nice ferns didn't have anyone working yesterday. We might go back Saturday and get one.

We went to Hannah's school last night to meet the first grade teachers and find out about the curriculum. It is hard to believe that my sweet, precious Hannah is going to be in first grade next year. Having taught first grade, it is unbelievable that I now have a child that age, capable of doing all that she is doing. She is a beautiful reader and is getting more fluent by the day. Her math skills are amazing. I'm so glad she has Joe's math smarts about her. I knew she would love books, at least I thought it was a good chance, since I've read to her practically every day of her life. But, I'm so thankful that she also enjoys math. I pray that she will continue to love school. It is so much easier going to school for 17 years if you like it and it comes easy to you. So, I pray she will continue to excel and be challenged at the same time. When I think about the first grade skills I taught just five years ago, she has learned nearly all of them this first year in kindergarten. She has the most gifted, amazing teacher. The things she has taught Hannah are definitely more advanced than any kindergarten class I've ever seen. I am praying even now that Hannah will be placed in the perfect first grade classroom, with a teacher that will continue to challenge her and teach her above the grade level standards.

Okay, here's one funny story for you, then I have to go do my daily "straighten up the house" routine before I start my work in the office. I just can't work in a cluttered house. This morning we were going over Emma's Bible verse from preschool. Before we started I asked her if she remembered what book of the Bible her verse was in. She said, "Yes, it's in First John Smith."

Well, it's in Proverbs and not First John and where in the Bible is John Smith??? At first I was thinking that was the founder of the Mormon church and wondering where in the world she got that from...but that was Joseph Smith.. So, I guess I need to start teaching her the books of the Bible so she doesn't start quoting verses from Jane Doe!

Here's some pictures of the girls. We haven't had many opportunities for pictures this week. Maybe this weekend we can try out the new camera. Emma has dance this afternoon, and I'm hoping they send home the dance recital costumes. If so, we'll have a fashion show and upload pics later on.

Talking about how smart Hannah is I was wondering if she has learned anything from her Auntie? Maybe to love candy and use potty words? Hannah you are so smart and I pray you will continue to love school so when Emma gets older you can help her write papers like your mommy helps me! Love Auntie
