Sweet Mispronunciations...A sign that my girls are still little...May they stay that way for a little bit longer!

I usually have funny stories to tell about Emma because she is the youngest and still says funny "toddler" things. Hannah is so bright and mature for a 5 year old, that she seldom makes mistakes or says off the wall things. But today I have a cute story about Hannah. Her Bible verse for the month has been "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again rejoice!" Philippians 4:4. We have practiced saying Philippians with her every time we quote the verse but she just can't remember how to pronounce it. It is so darling the way she does say it, that sometimes I don't even correct her. Leave it to Emma though, if she catches Hannah saying it incorrectly, she corrects her! She probably likes knowing something her big sister doesn't, since it is usually the other way around. Anyway, on the way to school today Hannah was saying her verse. (Emma has memorized it too even though they are in different classes at church. So, she can "check" Hannah.) Well, Hannah rattles off the verse and then closes with "Reflippians 4:4." It is so adorable to hear her! After Emma hears Reflippians, she starts saying, "Now Hannah honey, you know it's Philippians, not Reflippians!" She was mothering her like Hannah would do to her. It was so sweet.

Hannah also has a tough time remembering how to say the word "remember." Since she was itty bitty she would say "I Freemember" with an f at the front of the word. She now knows how to say it correctly, but she still slips up and puts the f in the front because it is a habit now! I know I'm a horrible early childhood educator. I should be gently correcting and teaching her how to correct it, but sometimes the things they say are just too cute to correct. You know that one day soon they will grow up and not mispronounce it and then you will miss the childish things they do and say.

Another funny thing that Emma always messes up on is the word "forehead." Just yesterday I was playing Chutes and Ladders with her and on the board there is a picture of a boy who is crying and she said to me, "Momma, I bet he is crying because he fell and hit is headfore." She has always called her forehead her headfore and it is the funniest thing ever. We laugh out loud every time she says it. (In fact I almost mistyped it and put headfore instead of forehead. I had to really think about which was the correct word to use because I am so used to hearing it as headfore.)

Hearing them say funny things reminds me that they are still little and makes me rejoice a little bit. They seem to be getting older faster....when they were babies the days seemed longer. They were more monotonous...feed, change diapers, naps, and do it all over again every 4 hours. As they get older the days seem to fly by. Hannah and I were discussing how quickly kindergarten had flown by and she said, "I know it seems like just yesterday that we went to the school to meet Mrs. Wright. " It does seem that way! This has been the fastest school year I can remember. I can hardly believe we are almost in May of 2008. In one month 2008 will be almost half over. (It just feels like yesterday that I was setting my goals for 2008 and here we are four months down and time is flying!)

I am so glad that my friend Jennifer taught me about digital scrapbooking. It has been so much fun putting our memories on paper and journaling about them. It has made me cherish each day more with my girls and look for ways to make special memories with them. Childhood is short and I want to remember that every time Emma yells, "MOMMMMMMMMAAAAA" from down the hall (Usually because she needs help fixing something she has broken or spilled or made a mess with!) These days will fly by and before long I won't be crying because kindergarten is here but that college is here and my babies will be leaving me. Here is a word art about memories that I am going to use on a scrapbook page soon. I thought it fitting for this post. I found it at http://elegantwordart2.blogspot.com/.

Here's a quick Halloween page that I put together. I am working on one more page that has journaling about the costumes they picked, where we went etc. and a few more pictures. It may have to wait though because as I got caught up and shipped out every order this morning, another huge order was faxed in this afternoon, so it's back to being busy!

Jenny, I only have one word for you, "Polnailish." You now know how I feel about that word. I still pronoun it the way you did when you were little. I love you my little girl. MOM

my all time favorite thing emma does is the way she pronounces her R's. its not kindergarden, its kindiegahden. i will never forget at the beach last summer the girls sitting in my lap and hannah telling me all about starting school soon, and emma blurting out "yeah! hannah is going to be in KINDIEGAHDEN!" cute cute girls
