Weekend Review

*This post was written over the past few days:

Emma was sitting in the carpool line with me this afternoon waiting for Hannah and she was trying to remember a song she sings in preschool. She told me she knew it was about riding a bus and paying the jerk. I told her I was pretty certain that in preschool they weren't teaching her a song that called someone a jerk. As she continued to hum and sing it in the backseat it finally came out, "I got on the bus to go to the grocery store. I paid the clerk and the bus took off with a jerk!" (Or something along those lines.) Who knows what she'll come up with next!

The girls asked me in the van on the way to dance class where they devil lives now that he has been kicked out of heaven. (It cracks me up that they think of these spiritual questions as we're driving around town. They always ask me these types of things in the van!) We had always taught them about heaven and loving Jesus and going with him to live in heaven one day, but had not broached the subject of hell. We didn't want to scare them into believing in Jesus! We taught them about the devil and how he tries to get us to sin and stop following Jesus etc. and we taught them about how he wanted to be bigger than God and rule the world....we just hadn't brought up hell. So, I figured it was time they knew a little bit more about the devil and where he abides and where people will go if they don't follow Jesus. I didn't mention any of the scary side of hell. I simply told them the worst part about hell was that they would be separated from God forever and how lonely that would be. They would also be separated from the family members they loved that followed Jesus and they would never be with God and have Him in their lives again. Long story short, they got a mini lesson on hell. So, that night before bedtime we were praying and I asked Emma to share with Daddy what she learned about the Bible today and about God and the devil. She then proceeded to tell Joe that the devil lives in "Hill." It was so funny. It wasn't that she was saying it with her cute Southern accent, it was that she couldn't remember this new word that she had learned and she knew it sounded like one she did know, "hill." So, the devil lives in hill and she doesn't want to go there without Jesus. I'm so thankful that our girls are interested in spiritual matters and I'm sure Jesus laughs too when Emma tells everyone the devil lives in hill!

We had the most fun on Friday opening a package I received in the mail from my cousins Anna and Beth. They live in Chicago and couldn't be here for the baby shower this weekend. They sent the sweetest, funniest baby gifts ever! Here is Emma helping me open our FUN package!

Everything was wrapped individually which made it so much fun to open. The packaging was as cute as the gifts! The items in the picture are:

(Back Left) The funniest book: The Incredible Book Eating Boy, Boppy Changing Pad Cover, Hooded Towels, My Big Train Book,

(2nd row to the back) A box of Johnny Infant socks. (The green pair is being modeled. They have a real tie at the top that makes them look like little shoes!) Gund baby rattles, Constructive Eating fork, spoon and push. (They have bulldozers etc on the utensils.) Usborne Dinosaur Book

(Front Row) The package beside the bib is a long sleeve onsie with green trim that has fuzzy sage green alphabet letters inside. Once you pick a name, you can iron on the fuzzy letters and monogram his shirt! So cute! Necktie bib, Tatoo Heart Mom onsie! I love it! Thank you Anna and Beth, your gifts are so adorable and I can't wait to post pictures of him in his darling apparel!

This week we did a few more house projects that we've been trying to get done before the holidays. We hung some pictures in our hall that I've been dying to put up. They look off-centered right now because I centered the vinyl lettering in the wall, but only have enough picture frames to cover one side. So, for Christmas I'm putting more black frames on my list, so I can finish off the other side!

We put the crib together and now that our weekend company has gone, we are going to take the bed down in that room this week and probably start painting soon. It's starting to come together! Only a few more projects and the house will be ready to welcome our new addition!

We had a great time with Joe's sisters, Jackie and Tara this weekend. They came down to walk in the Hemophilia Walk with Joe's family. We were walking to raise money for research and new treatments because Joe's cousin Melissa has a 22 month old with a form of hemophilia. We had so much fun at the park with the family. I forgot my camera, so if I can scam some off of another family member, I'll post them soon. Thank you to everyone that sponsored our walk. Our prayer is that Kathryn won't have to suffer from this over her lifetime. We pray that even if no cure or treatment is found that Jesus will cure her from it so she is no longer bothered by this illness.
This afternoon Papa is coming to babysit the girls while the baby shower is going on because Joe is in Martinsville for some race. (No, I'm not a race fan and have no idea what race he is at. All I know is that it is in VA and he will be gone all day.) So, good ole Papa agreed to watch the girls while I go have some girl time. Papa better get ready for an afternoon of Princess Monopoly because Emma likes to crush Papa at Monopoly! Poor Papa, no one stands a chance against Emma and her Princesses.

Knowing Emma perhaps it's a good thing that she can't pronounce hell right now. You know her...it'd come out when you least expect it and in the most embarrassing of situations.
