Pumpkin Carving

We carved two pumpkins on Saturday. One we bought at the farmer's market and the small one was the one Emma picked at her school pumpkin patch. She chose the letter E to embellish her small pumpkin. (The neighbors will think it is for Edgerton, but it's really E for Emma!) Emma wasn't thrilled about helping when we first started, because she didn't have the patience to clean out the gunk. She wanted to go straight to the carving, which by the way, she thought she and Hannah were going to do! She wanted to use the knife to make the face. That would have been a scary looking pumpkin, not to mention, the trip to the ER we would have had to make. Overall it was a lot of fun and they look cute. Here are the pictures from our pumpkin carving and the pictures of the girls teaching themselves to ride their bikes! They road the neighbors' bikes that are lower to the ground than theirs and when their feet could touch the ground and they could really walk and balance themselves on the smaller bikes, it made it so much easier.

I'm not sure what to do about the color in these pictures. We didn't realize that the flash wasn't on. I guess the camera thought there was enough daylight and didn't use it, and the color quality turned out really blue. I tried fixing them in PhotoShop but they still dont look great. I'm really sad. I hope I can work on them some more and improve the color.

Hannah designed the pumpkin face at the Better Homes and Gardens Website. You can choose your eyes, nose and mouth and then print it to make your pattern. We traced it onto tissue paper and then used a permanent marker to trace it onto our pumpkin. Hannah was proud of her design!

(We're putting new helmets on our Christmas list! These look so funny on the girls...but Auntie Catherine was given them free from the fire department and free is always good!)
