A Week in Review

***This post was written over the last few days. I have been noting different stories and compiling them into one post.

Today we were sitting in the carpool line at Hannah's school. Sitting beside of us in line was a 15 passenger church van picking up children for their after school program. Emma looks out her window at the lady driving the van and says, "Whoa, that woman must have a lot of kids. Look at the big car she needs to pick them up from school." I thought that was so funny. She was clueless about it being a church van and thought that woman had so many children she needed a 15 passenger van to fit them all inside!

Then, this afternoon I went into the kitchen to prep some stuff for dinner and I noticed Emma wasn't playing with Hannah in her room. So I yelled to Hannah, "Where is Emma?" She didn't know. I thought she must have gone outside in the backyard so I took a peek out the courtyard window and didn't see her. I went back to the kitchen to stir the pot on the stove and out of the dark pantry slinks Emma. She had been hiding in there when she heard me coming to the kitchen. She slinks out and says, "Mommy, can I have a fruit roll up?" Bless her heart. She had to hide in the pantry, thinking I wouldn't approve of her getting a fruit roll up! Yesterday I bribed them into going grocery shopping with me by promising to buy them donuts. They are a guilty pleasure we try not to indulge in very often. (Primarily for the fact that I would eat them all if they were in the house.) So it was nice to reward them with a donut treat for tagging along to the grocery store. (However, I have changed my stance on having company while grocery shopping. While taking just one of them is fun and gives me company while I shop; keeping up with both of them was a bit of a chore yesterday!) Starting in January the baby and I will be going alone during preschool time.

Another funny Emma comment: She gets in the van after preschool today and her teacher hands her a small box of nerds. (If you read our blog very often you know Emma is obsessed with her reward candy she receives each day if she good in preschool.) So, after getting her buckles on she opens her nerds and squeals with excitement. Exclaiming, "Did my teachers know I love these?" I replied, "I don't know. Have you told them you love them" "No, I guess Jesus gave them special brains to know that kids love these!"

So, yesterday Emma dressed herself for school. She put on jean capris a red top and picked a red VELVET WINTER headband to match. She thought she looked fabulous. She asked me if I thought she looked fabulous and I replied yes. She then insists that we go on the porch and take her picture since she looks so fabulous. So, while we should be hurrying around getting Hannah ready to go off to school, we are on the porch doing a photo shoot. She goes to stand beside the 3 mums on the steps. However, standing beside of them is not good enough for her. She then proceeds to tell me to arrange them AROUND her. She wants one on each side and one down in front. As I snap a few pictures she says, "Okay now take this one" as she strikes a new pose. "Okay, now this one" and pose #2 is struck. She does this for 5 or 6 poses until I proclaim it is time to go to school. She is such a ham and loves to model for me! I wonder what goes through that little four year old mind of hers sometimes! I will post her pictures when I have time.

So, I mentioned Hannah is having a sleepover in two weeks with her best friend from school and we are going to the opening night of High School Musical 3. Well, have I mentioned that usually the first thing she says to me each morning upon waking up is "How many more days?" As she is falling asleep at night she talks to me about how much fun it will be to have Blaire spend the night and all the things she has planned. When Emma wants a snack from the pantry and there are only two left Hannah wants us to save the last two for her and Blaire at the sleepover. The child is obsessed! She is SO excited. I'm happy for her. It's fun to look forward something special and I'm glad she is anxiously, excitedly, obsessively, waiting for her fun night!

We are still working on home projects this weekend. We (Well, Joe and Rodney) hung our glass door on the front of the house yesterday. We (Joe and Rodney) hauled a bunch of old furniture and junk to goodwill. We (Joe and Rodney) put up a new bike rack in the garage so we could get one more of the many bikes in the garage off the floor.) We (Catherine and I) went to the Farmer's Market and bought pumpkins and produce. I think the guys had it a little harder, don't you? Actually, I did clean the whole house by myself and do all the laundry and wash the crib which we (mostly Joe with a little bit of my help) hauled down from the attic. I sorted baby clothes and will wash them this week and put them in the drawer at the bottom of the crib until we buy a dresser for the nursery. We (the whole Edgerton clan) went to Target and bought these blue, green, and white wall art dots that I am going to put on the wall behind the crib, because the crib bumper is white with green and blue dots. The paint in the room is khaki and I think I'm leaving it, because I've decided (Well, with Mom's help) that I really don't like blue that much and I don't think I want a blue room) The other 3 walls in the room will not have the dots, just the khaki paint. I can't wait to get it all togetherand see how it looks. We need to repaint the khaki in that room (that's another long story) but we can't do it until after next weekend because Joe's family is coming to visit and we can't get rid of the bed in the room yet. So, after next weekend the bed will be gone and the painting will begin. 16 weeks and counting!

I just love checking the blog on Monday mornings and reading Hannah and Emma stories.

Tell Emma to watch the show on TLC about the Dugar family. They have 17 kids and are expecting their 18th in January. Instead of a church van they use a charter bus!!
