When I asked Emma what she did at school today, the first thing out of her mouth was, "Take a nap. It was so boring taking a nap. Two kids fell asleep but not me. I just laid there with the lights out thinking about how the bus would be and how much fun school was." When I asked how the bus was she said, "It gave me a fright when the bus started!" Emma uses that expression a lot and I have no idea where it came from! Overall she said the day was fantastic. They read The Kissing Hand and The Night Before Kindergarten. She informed the teacher she had both of those books at home and she helped the teacher read The Night Before Kindergarten because she knew the words. :) She said she picked a taco in the cafeteria and some lady gave her fruit! Emma does have manners, I promise. She doesn't mean to sound so sassy. Emma just shoots straight! So, some lady gave her fruit and she chose strawberry milk because it is her favorite. She had PE on the stage. We asked if she meant the gym and she didn't know, she just knew she was on a stage. (There is a performance stage in the gym, so I assume that is where she was.) She said they did exercises and learned about their muscles. She exercised her heart muscle, her shoulder muscles and her neck muscles. She learned her heart is a muscle too. At recess she did the school monkey bars all the way across for the entire recess. She only went down the slide one time. She said she didn't play with anyone else at recess, she just did the monkey bars. They didn't do centers much to her chagrin. She was really hoping to play in the housekeeping center with the baby dolls and kitchen. I know children have to be taught how to use the centers properly but it kind of surprised me when Hannah's kindergarten teacher also didn't open the housekeeping center until several weeks into school. Emma would be their best friend for life if they had let her play with a few baby dolls today! To me, letting them play with what is familiar, would be a great way to make them feel at home. That is just my two cents worth. She had a great day none the less, but I think playing in the housekeeping center would have put her over the moon!
Hannah's day was good. She didn't cry. She said she only got sad in the hall but not in the classroom. She didn't have to do any morning work at lunch so that was fantastic. She went to music in the music room which is a new concept for them. The music teacher used to come to their classroom for music, so this is much more fun! Two days in a row she couldn't have recess outdoors because it was too hot. Emma must have recess in the morning before it gets hot, because she was allowed to play outside. Hananh hasn't had homework yet, so for that she is thrilled! So, we had a great third day of school and I know it will continue. Thanks for your prayers!

Emma reminds me of Junie B. Jones!
I'm so glad Emma had a good day and that Hannah didn't have to do work at lunch! And what a treat-the bus! :)
The girls love the bus. I'm so surprised, but I made Hannah ride the afternoon bus for a few weeks after Carter was born and she loved it, so we kept the tradition! Emma rode home on her first day. She did not want me to pick her up!
