Emma's New Capri Pants

Last week Emma's preschool had a consignment sale. I found 3 pairs of Gap pastel colored pants for $2.50 each. They were all size 6 which fits Hannah perfectly and Emma can wear them with a belt and the adjustable waist tightened. The problem with the size 6 for Hannah is that they are too short. She has super long legs and although her waist is a 5 or 6, her legs need a 7.

Problem solved; I cut them off and made them into capris. I was very proud of myself. I had never hemmed anything before and with MeMaw's perfect instructions, I hemmed them effortlessly today. The stitching on the pants is a tan color so I used my tan thread to sew the hem. It looks great except the one spot that I curved a bit and you can tell it isn't perfectly straight in that spot. On the other two pairs I'll probably hem with a thread that matches the pant color, so it blends in better. Here is Emma modeling the pink pair. We have a robin egg blue pair and a lavender pair still to hem. Hopefully, they'll be sporting three "like new" pairs of Gap capris this spring that collectively cost $7.50. (I needed to repress these before the picture. I didn't realize I had wrinkled them so much while sewing!)
