Hannah is turning six

Hannah's birthday is Wednesday and we celebrated with the family on Sunday night. Everyone came over for dinner and cake and ice cream. Notice the beautiful cake....well, my usual bakery is closed due to construction in downtown Kernersville so I had to use Dewey's bakery in Winston. They are a million years old and known for their fabulous baked goods. Well, I didn't ask the price of the cake before I ordered it and I was SHOCKED when I went to pick it up and it was nearly $100.00! Well, if it had tasted like a $100.00 I could have dealt with the blow to my wallet a little bit better, but it was actually the worse cake I've ever eaten. A box mix is 10 times better than what we had Sunday night. We called today and I"m returning the uneaten portion to them tomorrow to see what they think. It was beautiful but not good at all. It was dry and didn't even taste like good dry cake. SO DISAPPOINTING!

Anyway, besides the cake fiasco, the party was wonderfully fun and Hannah was surrounded with the company of friends and family and of course for a six year old, most importantly lots of presents. Here are some pictures from the day. The four of us will celebrate on her actual birthday the 13th, and we will give her our presents then. We are surprising her with a trip to Carowinds next week (which she adores) and we agreed to install cable in her room so she could have a tv in her room. We are blocking all but three stations, PBS, Disney, and Noggin and there will be time limits, but she has begged us for two months for a tv in her room. (Her arguement is that once the baby comes she doesn't want to disturb him/her in the morning because she gets up so early 7 days a week, so when she gets up at 6:00 am she can lay in bed and watch tv until the baby gets up. (I'm all for sleeping in on Saturday mornings, so that might work to my advantage!) The cable man is coming tomorrow morning to install the outlet while Catherine keeps the girls, so she won't be home and won't know until Wednesday. Emma has dance that day, so while we are at dance Joe is going to connect the tv so it is a surprise when she comes home.

Her friends are joining us at the skating rink on Saturday for her friend party. Skating must be making a come back. Two of her friends had parties at the skating rink this year and so Hannah wanted to do the same. It seems so 80's to me, but she's happy and it was inexpensive, so I'm happy!

Here are some pictures of the birthday girl and the million dollar cake!

Happy Birthday Hannah! I remember when she was born. I had just started working at CIU.

I would have passed out when I picked up cake! Let us know what they do for you guys. I hope you get your money back...at least some of it.

Cool birthday candle.
