Emma Struts Her Stuff

Let me just start by saying that during the month of June my family is forbidden to do anything "photo" worthy because I have so many back logged pictures from May that need to be organized and scrapped that it will take me all of June to catch up. Here are a few good pictures from our butterfly release at my grandmother's nursing home a few weeks ago. Sorry, there are no good pictures of the butterflies, but I figure 20 years from now, it won't be the butterflies that we are interested in remembering, it will be the family members and the memory of being together.
Who's that gorgeous man?

Also, here is Emma's debut in her first dance recital costume. Notice, how she never looks straight into the camera. She despises me taking her picture..so she rarely looks directly into the camera and her smile is seldom genuine. Oh well, despite that, I caught a few good pics.

She gave me a fit getting ready this afternoon. At first she refused to put on mascara and then when I pulled out the curling iron she had a melt down. She was terrified that I would burn her. I have no idea why, I've never used it on her and I've never burned Hannah, but we compromised, I wouldn't use the curling iron if she would put on the mascara...well, that wasn't exactly the compromise. I had to promise her a new toy too. She was that afraid of me poking out her eye with the mascara wand! I had to promise a new toy and promise to never ever, never ever, curl her curly hair. She kept pleading, just put my magic bubbles in and make my hair curly. I already have curly hair, I don't need that burny thing! What is a mom to do? I gave up the battle and settled for pretty eye lashes and a stinking new toy!

Lastly, diet coke is officially forbidden in my house now. Hannah snuck and got one out of the fridge in the garage when she was playing outside this afternoon and as we were literally pulling out of the driveway to take Emma for her pictures, she spilt it in her lap in the van. Thank goodness we were leaving early! Diet coke is now my arch Nemesis!

That's it for today. Sorry for the two long posts, but I promised Emma I would debut her recital costume.
