The Old Salem Website said the field trip included:
- Experiencing what school was like in Salem in an early 19th century classroom setting.
- Learning how family roles have changed while preparing a recipe from long ago on the hearth.
- Working with raw materials and tools to learn about the trades in Salem.
- Carding, spinning and dying wool as they learn how families worked together.
Hannah's favorite parts were making the "old fashion" cookie (that's what she called it) and using the wool to make a mitten.
Her day was even better she said, because she got to start it off by having a father/daughter breakfast at her school. Once a quarter the PTA sponsors a breakfast and this quarter it was Doughnuts with Dad. All of the Dad's came to school and had breakfast with their child. Hannah was so excited to take Joe to school. All in all, I think she had a pretty great day and on top of that, no school on Monday. She's looking forward to a three day weekend and I'm looking forward to sleeping in on Monday and not having to pack lunches!
