Scrapbook Pages

For this layout I used th Painted Season Kit from Pepermint Creative and their Cutesy Doodle Doo elements. I also used a template page from Simply Yin.

For this layout I used Ronna Penner's Express Yourself kit that I found at The Shabby Princess.

Here are two more scrapbook pages I did. One is a few more Easter pictures and the other is from the beach last year. I haven't scrapped in so long, that I want to go back and do a book for '07 as well. While I have motivation to stay up late and get it done, I've been trying to do current stuff as well as some pages for an '07 album. Next, I'm going to work on our circus pictures, Emma's birthday and our January snow pictures and I'll have the major milestones for '08 complete and I can go back and do some more highlights of '07. I can't wait to scrap the pumpkin patch pictures from last October. They were truly the cutest pictures I have ever taken of the girls. So, bear with me as you see beach, fall and Easter pictures all at the same time!

The song below is one of my favorite Easter songs. Our pastor used to sing it at Easter sunrise service with his son. I have such fond memories of those early Easter morning services. If you don' t have seven minutes to listen to the entire track, here is a synopsis of the song.

It is about a father taking his children to Jerusalem and they are bringing their lamb to sacrifice. The boys are in charge of watching the lamb as they travel to Jerusalem to sacrifice it. He explains how there will be a lot of people in Jerusalem and they must make sure the lamb doesn't run away. The children say, "Daddy, Daddy what we will see there today? There is so much we don't understand." So, he explains about Moses and Abraham and the tradition of sacrificing a lamb for forgiveness of sins. When they get to Jerusalem it is chaotic and he realizes something must be wrong. There were no joyful worshippers, no joyful worship songs. He stands there with his children in the midst of angry men and then he hears the crowd cry out,"Crucify Him." They try to leave but they can't get away from the city. He and his sons are there when Jesus passes by. The first criminal was crying out for mercy, the people gave him none. The second one was violent, arrogant and loud, screaming at the crowd. But then someone said, "There's Jesus." The father could hardly believe his eyes, a man so badly beaten that he barely looked alive. Blood poured from his body, from the thorns pressed on his brow, running down the cross and falling to the crowd. The father sings,

"I watched him as he struggled. I watched him as he fell. The cross came down upon his back, and the crowd began to yell. In that moment, I felt such agony, in that moment I felt such loss. Until a Roman soldier grabbed my arm and screamed, "You carry his cross!" At first I tried to resist him then his hand reached for his sword and so I knelt and took the cross from the Lord. I placed it on my shoulder and started down the street. The blood that he'd been shedding was running down my cheek. They led us to Golgotha. They drove nails deep into his feet and hands. Yet upon the cross, I heard, 'Father forgive them.' Oh never have I seen such love in any other eyes. Into thy hands I commit my spirit, he prayed and then he died. I stood for what seemed like years. I'd lost all sense of time. Until I felt two tiny hands holding tight to mine. My children stood there weeping. I heard the oldest say, "Father please forgive us, the lamb ran away. "Daddy, Daddy, what have we seen here today? There is so much we don't understand." So, I took them in my arms and turned and watched the cross, then I said, "Dear children watch the lamb."

What a powerful reminder of what Christ did for us. May we continue to revel in the gift and praise him for what He did. Even as our memories of Easter 2008 begin to fade, may be remember that Easter of long ago and the gift of salvation it brough to each of us.

Jen, you are doing such an awesome job on your pages! I agree-I'm trying to catch up and stay caught up on all my new pictures while I'm motivated. Hey you can teach me something...I love how you washed the picures from the beach. I don't really know how to edit pictures in photoshop. Any tips?

Oh, and yes I do make most of Landree's bows. She doesen't always want to wear them, but we try. The little bows I buy in Texas at the great place for $1. We have about 30 in all colors. I can't even buy the ribbon and clips to make them for that.
