Emma turned six last Friday. We had our family over Friday night for dinner and her friends came over on Saturday. It was a very busy weekend. Her theme this year was Emma’s Sweet Shoppe. Everything centered around candy. The porch was decorated with big candy and lollipops by the sidewalk. The front door had a sign saying, “Emma’s Sweet Shoppe” and the party table was a candy buffet. The children filled goodie bags of candy to take home as their party favor. We made candy bracelets with these beads and each girl made a foam lollipop. We played CANDY Bingo with pictures of all kinds of candy and everyone had a SWEET time!
I interviewed Emma about her favorite things and here is the list of her favorite things at six years old:
Favorite food: Pizza
Favorite pastime: Play the computer and play outside
Favorite color: blue and pink and purple and yellow…well, all the colors except brown
Favorite friend: Callie
Favorite TV show: Wizards of Waverly Place
Favorite school subject: Play in centers, especially computer center
Favorite toy: Liv Fashion Dolls
Favorite clothing: Dresses
Favorite shoes: High heels and cheerleading tennis shoes
Favorite place to go: The Children’s Museum
Her party invitations
Cake for Friday night Family party.
I had large lollipops to put on top but they were so heavy, I thought they might ruin the cake.
Emma with her dollhouse kit from MeMaw. She is so excited to build her own dollhouse! Things have been put on hold with Hannah’s broken arm, but hopefully this weekend we’ll get started with the paint and wallpaper!
Front porch candy. I forgot to photograph the huge lollipops I made. They were just 59 cent dowel rods with $2.00 paper flowers attached. I bought them here and they were so cute! I tied a big striped ribbon bow on them and they were so, so sweet! The candy is made from $2.00 paper lanterns wrapped with cellophane paper. ( I am not creative, just a copy cat! What did we do before google???!)
Auntie Catherine made the gumball pattern for Emma’s shirt. Isn’t it precious!? Her polka dotted leggings matched perfectly. We’ve had those since school started and I found the ribbon at the salvage store for 95 cents a roll in January. Everything came together so well! Our friend Tracy gave Emma the jean skirt for her birthday. She was so thoughtful and gave it to Emma early so she could wear it to her party. She knows Emma loves a good jean skirt! Remember this post?
Party Table
Crown I made from leftover paper from the pack I used for the invitations.
Lollipop, Lollipop, Oh Lolli Lollipop! Eight Sugary Sweet Girls!
I forgot to measure the crown for pigtails! UUGGHH! It wouldn’t sit straight because the pigtails got in the way!
Happy Birthday Sweet, Sweet Girl!
You are the SWEETEST six year old this side of heaven.
We love you!
