Hannah’s 9th Birthday

Well, it’s 1:30 a.m. as I write this and the reason I am up so late is because this sweet girl hannah birthday-1-12 starts 4th grade tomorrow morning.  And I just can’t stop thinking about how much I am going to miss her .  Where has the time gone?  She looked like this just last week, wasn’t it? I know, I know it’s just 4th grade.  Don’t ask me what I’ll do when she goes off to college!  I just can’t believe that summer is over and my sweet girls have to go back to school.  I cherish every day they are home with me in the summer and I thank God for each day that we have together.
Hannah’s birthday was so much fun this year.  Her friends are so sweet and we all had a wonderful time celebrating Hannah.
We began the night with an ice cream sundae themed birthday party at the church youth house.  About 15 of her friends came and played pool, ping pong, video games and danced and sang to some really LOUD music!  We ate way too much ice cream and she got so many nice gifts.
She saved up her birthday money for a new ipod this year and was so precious when she cried on her birthday because she was heart-broken Emma didn’t have enough money saved to get an ipod too.  So, through tears she sacrificially gave Emma $30.00 of her birthday money so Emma too could get a new ipod.  She has a heart of gold.  She loves her sister and couldn’t imagine disappointing her by getting a new ipod that they both really wanted and Emma not having one too!

After the party that was from 6-8 pm at the church, six of her girlfriends came to our house for a slumber party!  We had spa treatments to start off the night.  Each girl got to sit in the massage chair, soak their feet in the bubbling warm water, get their nails painted Crackle style! and get a colored hair extension clip put in their hair!  It was fabulous, so I’ve been told!  Catherine and I were too busy massaging feet and painting nails to get pampered ourselves!
After the spa treatments we popped lots of popcorn and watched Soul Surfer.  Then around 1 am they decided to have a glow in the dark fashion show with all 50 of the glow stick accessories we had purchased. So they dressed up in dress up clothes and then accessorized with glow stick jewelry.  It was precious! I wish I had some pictures of the fashion show!  Around 3 am I gave up and went to bed and Hannah and 2 other girls managed to make it until 5:30.  Hannah of course, was up at 7 am.  She wakes up early no matter what time she goes to bed…people never believe me about that…but after only 1.5 hours of sleep the girl was back up to start the day!  INSANITY!

We sent the girls home around 10 and then the family came at 2 for the family party!  We were all pretty tired by then, but Hannah was still ready to party!  We had cake and ice cream with the family and then took a short nap before going to her traditional birthday dinner of Mexican food!

Mom came the day before her parties and helped the girls decorate this precious cake.  The girls had so much fun tossing the glittered sugar on the cake.  Carter got in on the action and poured an entire container of sugar in one spot before we noticed what he was doing.  We had to gently shake it off, and it was still pretty gritty in that spot!

Hannah I love you more than words could ever explain.  You are a delight and I treasure you.  Happy Birthday, sweet girl.  You name befits you:  A double measure of God’s grace.
