Star Gazing

Last night after dinner Hannah wanted to go outside to see if any of her friends were outside. With the change in time they have so few daylight hours after school that sometimes the neighborhood kids play in the dark in the front of our house. We let her go outside for a few minutes to see her friends because she doesn't see them on Wednesdays because of Emma's dance class and church. Thursdays are tough too because she dances until 5:30 and we now come home in the dark after dance. By the time she ate dinner and did her homework it was pushing 6:30 but we told her she could go out and visit for 15 minutes. Well, they had all gone inside by then and so she was outside by herself. Joe took this picture of her sitting on our sidewalk. I went out to check on her to ask what she was doing and she invited me to look at the stars with her. She was trying to connect the stars in her mind and make pictures. While we were star gazing I pointed out that the bright light that was brighter than all of the lights in the sky was Jupiter (I think). She commented that she wished she knew someone with a rocket so we could go explore Jupiter. But then she remembered, "We would probably need a rocket license in order to drive the rocket." Oh, the sweet thoughts of children. I wonder if the DMV issues those? :)

I think Uncle Jungle Jim has a rocket license. Yall could ask him where he got it! :) Or, maybe you could ask Brad. He used to have one but he must have turned it in because ever since the day he drove Alexandra home from the hospital, he's been driving more like me. I remember that morning well.....cars were flying by us and he was like... "What were those?!?" Remember the scene in Talledega Nights where Ricky Bobby is back on the track after his accident and he's going about 3 mph and everyone is whizzing past? Ok, that was Brad on Lakeshore Drive on the morning of May 5, 2008.
